Ohhhhhhhh.... Another Irish Arts Week - July 2009
19/07/09 11:19
Well,
another Irish Arts week has come to pass, and we
return home... exhausted... but stuffed full to the
BRIM... with new tunes, new songs, new rhythms and
ideas... and just brimming with inspiration...
I had the priviledge to spend a week learning from bouzouki player and singer - Pat Broaders... from Bohola... I learned a TON!!!!!
Thank you Pat!
It was wonderful, as usual to get to see so many great friends... and of course - play tunes with old friends and new friends as well...
This year I only took Bouzouki class... I did get to play fiddle, just didn't take any fiddle classes...though Matt Cranitch has been my favorite teacher for years up there... but this year I truely wanted some quiet time... rather than running hectic... pressured... getting everyone to class... driving around... rushing...
i wanted to take the time to enjoy the mountains, trails and beauty....
So of course - i haunted some of the ancient graveyards there... creepy i know... but i like doing that...
Found quiet falls... amongst the rocks for a bit of peace - and reflection...
And after endulging in Jo Ann's BIG, wonderful, gourmet breakfasts at The Deer Watch Inn...
we'd set out for some exercise - to get burning off those WELL WORTH it calories... out on the local hiking trails

We saw a pair of golden eagles on one hike... herds of deer... great blue heron, frogs, fish, heard coyotes howling... and just had a great week... Read More...

Another great Tuesday night... at St. Stephen's Green Pub!
03/07/09 09:52
Tuesday
night rolled around again... and tons of folks braved
the thunderous, rainy skies that covered the
evening... seeking NOT only the great Guinness... but
the friendly, cheerful atmosphere at St. Stephen's
Green Pub... Tripping up the
Stairs Jig set

Here is Hugh – the owner of the pub; Jessica, the wise maid; and Karen, the maid behind the bar…
New friends and old friends gathered... folks here all the way from Ireland, and locals, as well as vacationing families - who all joined the fun... talking and laughing while the music kept lots of toes tapping... and several dancers dancing... Legacy Set - Whistling Boys of Lietrum
ENTER the stage... one Kelly Brother... to the jovial equivalent of "NORM!" on the old tv sitcom "Cheers"...
then... ENTER the stage - Kelly brother #2... with his darling Maria... who delighted everyone again this evening… with their beautiful, figurine like waltzing... moving gracefully around the pub to our music - and delighting the other patrons...
Several folks over the past few weeks… have approached me after session… and said this is just the most pleasant, and friendliest pub they’ve ever been to… and I agree! We have such a wonderful group of friends we play music with… and great friends we get to see each week who come out to hear us play… Thank you all for being so much fun… and making each Tuesday night – so special. King of the Fairies - Lads of Laios
JUST LOVE you guys!
Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!
Have fun! Be safe!
and Always have a designated driver!!
