I’ve
had the pleasure – over the last 8
years… to teach fiddle to some of the most
wonderful people - I could ever imagine. (yes... you
know who you are!!!) The talent, the humor and the
capabilities I’ve had the honor to
witness… and be part of – has been a
tremendous gift... and always makes me smile.
I try to make my fiddle lessons fun… so… Nope, there’s no stodgy sheet music, no boring scales to practice, no drudgery, no drag 'cause if it’s not fun… WHY would anyone want to play – or keep playing? I do gently -interject small bits of theory, key information & tidbits that will make you eventually learn that ‘technical theory stuff’… but I try to keep it spiced more – with fun, tunes & techniques I feel you can grasp… So you can get moving faster towards really playing - and increasing your repetoir and improving your techniques.
I currently have a few times - open for new students looking to learn. I have students of ALL ages... and I customize each lesson for the individual – and try to give the fiddler tunes to go out with - and play well - with other musicians in our area.
Learning fiddling – or any musical instrument actually – increases one’s memory, recall, and has a bunch of other great effects… as well as it’s proven to increase a child’s abilities at school!
Want to hear me play first? Come on out to St. Stephen's Green Irish Pub - in Spring Lake Heights, NJ... I lead the Irish Session there every Tuesday evening from 7 to 10 pm...
