Cool fall night... a warm fire... and a haunted fiddle...

The night came in... and it felt like the very chill of the encroaching Fall evening - chased the remnants of the warm, almost Indian summer day - hastily away... I could feel the warmth, and color that was still clinging tentatively to the edges of summer color leaves, begin to drain away - ever so gently - as the glowing, golden hue of Autumn moved in...

The fire felt good in the brisk night air... and the smell of cherry wood was rich and smelled deliciously warm. The night sounds were still a whirr with the old familiar summer noises... but now... they didn't seem to carry quite that same song as they do on those hot, summer nights... no... it is definitely changing, just like the season... and a new tune to the night is coming in... I hear it singing through the branches - as Old Father Fall - creeps in, and entwines his ribbons of color - threading them through the leaves, on the trees - while we sleep...

So the fire crackled... the fall is setting in... and my fiddle was just perfect on that night... Sometimes that just happens ya know... Sometimes, the tunes just flow - in a fluid crusade of continual jigs... that lead - one onto another... endlessly...

The whistle... and the bodhran... added that haunting edge that somehow make me think of "Tituba"... that poor, 17th century woman who - danced to the beat of her own drum... and was accused of witchcraft - in Salem, Massachusetts... Why this makes me think of her... i don't know... I guess maybe it's the fire, and the darkness of the night... and the haunting fiddle music... and the rhythm of the drum... and the stars... and the darkness at the edge of the forest... and so yes... i have a wild imagination... what can i say? And... i like saying the name... "Tituba"... and this is my blog... and i'll write about, & say Tituba, if i wanta say Tituba.... haha... but alas... as I've seen the movie "Beetle Juice"... i will NOT say it 3 times in a row... thank you!

Cocktail hour - at a beautiful wedding!

As we have so often done - we had the honor to perform at a cocktail hour - for a beautiful, Irish wedding..... But i must say, that this was a particularly beautiful event - as it was for one of our very own "Boys of County O'Cean's"... or rather... it was for his daughter... Sinead
wedding
Our beloved Frank - didn't get to play with us, being the father of the bride and all... but we've never seen him looking so dapper as he did on this beautiful and special day. But we had the most pleasant honor of playing Irish music - Harp, fiddle & pipes... for the cocktail hour... as many of our friends gathered to celebrate this glorious day.

I was happy we could bring a smile, a tapping foot and a jig or reel dance or two - as we set off the afternoon's grand celebrations with traditional Irish Airs, waltzes, jigs and reels!
Congrats to Sinead & Michael! Best wishes!
