History:
The first tune we’ve selected, is a fun and
lively, 5 part jig – in the key of D - entitled
“King
of the Pipers”.
We’ve played this for the past several months
– and everyone always asks what it is –
‘cause it’s a fun tune! … So here
it is!
Philip picked this tune up from a marvelous piper, whom Philip greatly admires - Michael Cooney. He hails from Tipperary, Ireland but now resides here - in the good old USA. There are many versions of this tune, but this is the one Philip learned… We’ve also heard the Cheiftans play this tune on their “Water from the Well” dvd… They play a slightly different version but it’s pretty similar… it’s such a BLAST! When everyone gets going on it… it sounds fantastic! So give it a try! If you need the sheet music... send me an email, and I'll send it right out! Have Fun!
