She Moved Through the Fair

She Moved Through the Fair

Irish Traditional
Arrangement by Jennifer Mylod

My young love -said to me -my Mother won’t mind
And my Father won’t slight you, for your lack of kind…
Then she stepped away from me - and this she did say,
It will not be long, love – till our wedding day…

And then she stepped away from me –
and she moved through the fair,
And fondly I watched her - move here and move there…
And then she - turned homeward, and with one star still awake,
Like a swan in the evening - moves over the lake…

Well last night I dreamed - she came to me – that she came softly in,
That so softly she came… that her feet – they made no din…
Then she layed her hand on me - and this she did say…
"Oh Darlin, it will not be long now, 'til our - wedding day…
Darlin it will not be long love… 'til our - wedding day"
